President’s Message – January 2021

On behalf of the Cedarbrae Community Centre Staff and Board Members, we wish you and yours a happy, prosperous and healthy New Year!
Our Community Centre remains closed as the Covid “second wave” continues to roll through our Province and City and we are left to speculate how quickly we might be able to operate the Centre with indoor activities again.
As of this writing (in early-December) our fabulous ice-making volunteers are ready to flood our ice rink area when the weather cooperates. The ice-making team work very hard to provide a venue for free public ice skating and casual ice hockey play. IF YOU PLAN TO USE THE RINK, PLEASE RESPECT THE AHS SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDANCE AND REGULATIONS THAT ARE IN EFFECT.
We have about 20 pairs of free loaner ice skates in various sizes for community association members to borrow. These skates were recently sharpened and maintained for us by NO SWEAT SPORTS (#21B, 8720 Macleod Trail) with our sincere thanks.
Please check our website: www.mycedarbrae.ca for news about our potential WINTERFEST event on Family Day Monday, February 15, 2021.
Also, new on our website, look for our new online library catalogue of used books for sale. Book donations will be gratefully received as we try to generate a little revenue.
As ever, please call the office at (403) 251-2101 if you have any questions, suggestions or needs. Office staff Kathy or Darrell will be happy to help you with a cheerful smile!
And finally, a repeat appeal for HELP! We really need someone with a financial accounting background and working knowledge of QuickBooks to step forward and to work alongside our present Treasurer, Ron Bichel, in a transitional period and to take up the Treasurer’s position later in 2021. If you or someone you know might be interested please reach out to me, care of our office. I would love to chat with you over a coffee to discuss this important role.
